Welcome to santoki.ch
santoki.ch is a website owned by Dae-won. He is a Korean adoptee living in Seoul, Korea. This site is an open and multilingual platform for adoptees and friends. If you'd like to share a story, a poem, an essay or even your pictures, just submit it via "submit news" on the main menu or send them via email to daewon.wenger@gmail.com.
Please note that most pictures of the photogallery are only visible to those registered.
All pictures are copyright by Dae-won unless otherwise indicated. Those with login may use the pictures for personal use only.
Messagelist for adoptees:
I maintain a list of interested adoptees for all activities. I usually send out a message a day before the event. So if you'd like to be on that list, too and you've never received a message from me, please send me your cellphone number and I'll add you to the list (only to those who live in Korea). There are more than 200 adoptees currently on my list (2007/07). |

New Camera?
My old Canon PowerShot G3 held almost 7 years. Then it finally broke after so many thousand pictures. I'm still very happy about this camera even though it was so old. It had many features that are missing in other cameras of the same class.

Update
I was busy this month with travelling around. I flew to Europe, visited Paris during the IKAA LSM and managed also to do a day of sightseeing. Visited the ones I really had to, unfortunately didn't have enough time to visit all other friends and others in Switzerland (sorry Heeji, WonWook, M.A. & Baby, C.N., TdH in Lausanne etc. etc.).

Trip to Europe
Once again I'm preparing my trip to Europe. This time I'll be visiting Switzerland, France and Germany. Of course one part will be to visit my parents in Switzerland. But there are other parts where I'll be joining the planning committee of the upcoming IKAA Gathering 2007 in Paris.

Happy New (Lunar) Year
I wish you all a happy new (lunar) year. Korea is preparing the lunar new year and so are we. This time we have a special Seolnal Party at Koroot planned. It's going to be an interesting event, especially for those who have never been to a Seolnal event. Of course those who have found their birthfamilies won't probably be able to participate.

Korean Adoptee Community, Seoul
The Korean Adoptee Community here in Seoul has constantly changed since I came to Korea. Back in 2003 there were some groups, mostly Americans and Europeans who tended to hang out separately. After the Gathering 2004 many adoptees decided to stay longer and during fall/winter that year we had a development into one large group of adoptees.

Grief
For the mother I never had. Even though I have two. Isn't that ironic?
Grief is hard work. It hurts. And it's there all your life. Most of the time it's all good, sometimes it's overwhelming. Everytime it comes your way you cuddle, you cry, you feel sad. A part of my life in solitude. Just a part.
